Free Parking Decision
LINDSAY - The president of the Lindsay Downtown Business Improvement Area (LDBIA) praised City of Kawartha Lakes staff for helping to reach a compromise on the issue of free parking in downtown Lindsay.
Speaking at the Sept. 22 meeting, Charlie McDonald said staff had “worked very hard” with the BIA to come up with new recommendations that meet the City’s and business owners’ needs.
In June, council received a report that recommended parking fees in downtown Lindsay be increased and that a dedicated reserve be created for revenue surpluses generated from metered and pay and display parking in order to fund future capital costs and maintain current parking assets.
